Lip filler treatment is a popular non-surgical treatment to boost both the shape and volume of the lips using dermal lip filler injections.

What are Lip Filler?

Lip filler is a popular non-surgical treatment to increase both the shape and volume of the lips using dermal lip filler injections. For this purpose it is also known as lip filler augmentation.

As we age, our lips lose volume resulting in thinner, flatter lips which can also display wrinkles and fine lines, creating an overall tired and aged appearance.

Non-surgical lip filler offer a quick and safe solution to combat these signs of ageing and deliver improved lip volume and contour for a more natural look. With its affordability, this non-surgical procedure provides an effective method for someone who wants to improve their lips without any major commitments.

At Kalos Clinic London, we proudly offer a wide range of natural looking lip fillers by the FDA approved brands JUVÉDERM® and TEOXANE®, using hyaluronic acid — a naturally occurring active agent — to achieve optimal results. Hyaluronic acid is known for plumping up the skin without introducing any risks of long term side effects.

How long does Lip Filler last?

Both JUVÉDERM® and TEOXANE® lip fillers are safe products with temporary results that will last up to a year, after which the treatment needs to be repeated in order to maintain desired effects.

For us, the most important change we find is within a person’s confidence after receiving lip enhancement. We always ensure that all of our clients receive an in-depth consultation before they undergo any lip injection treatment and every procedure done by us has been with complete precision so you can feel comfortable during your experience as well as get high results.

Before carrying out a lip filler treatment, our clinicians see each and every patient for a thorough assessment and consultation. No two people are the same and no two cases are the same, therefore, you will receive a bespoke treatment plan based on your particular concerns, medical history or skin condition. This not only ensures your safety is upheld at all times, it also means that you’ll gain optimum results from treatment.

Your consultation is free but subject to a £50 attendance deposit that can be redeemed against any treatment delivered during your visit.

You are then invited back for a free post-treatment review session 2 – 4 weeks later.

After the lip augmentation treatment, which can be a couple of days, there might be some minor swelling of the lips. It’s best to time having lip injections done around a week before any special event or occasion. Straight after treatment, applying ice to the area can reduce swelling and help to stop any bruising. Avoid drinking alcohol or partaking in strenuous exercise for 24 hours as it can result in additional bruising.

We will go through detailed lip filler aftercare advice to maximise the benefits and avoid any undesirable side effects after your treatment.

FAQs

You will have a face-to-face consultation with one of our doctors, if you are happy to proceed with treatment on the day then numbing cream will be applied and your doctor will inject small quantities of lip filler into the border or body of your lip(s) depending on the desired effect. The appointment slot including numbing and treatment is approximately 30 minutes, and results are instant.

Lip filler can add definition to the borders of your lips, and the shape/size of your lips can be enhanced either subtly or dramatically according to your preferences. Our non-surgical lip enhancement procedure is also ideal for reducing lines and creases around the mouth area (including ‘smoker’s lines’).

The process may be somewhat uncomfortable, a topical local anaesthetic will be applied to reduce pain and we also use a dermal filler which contains a built-in anaesthetic for your comfort.

This depends on the outcome the client is trying to achieve, leading brands include Juvéderm® for lip filler. Both include a built-in anaesthetic making them less painful to have injected than other fillers.

No – Kalos Clinic does not use permanent fillers, the dermal filler we use will dissolve itself within 9-15 months. The dermal filler we use is also dissolvable using hyalase if required.

The results from the lip filler typically last between 9-15 months. Although this may vary depending on individual factors.

Lip filler can take up to two weeks to fully settle due to the effects of swelling, if you’re unhappy with your results after this time, make a follow-up appointment with your doctor.

Swelling and bruising are common side effects of lip filler, but such complaints are very temporary and should subside in the days following the treatment. In severe cases, swelling can last 10 -14 days. Full risks will be discussed on the day of treatment and include vascular occlusion- which is rare.

Lip fillers are not suitable for anyone with severe allergies. You should not have dermal fillers of any kind if you are pregnant or breastfeeding – we do not treat clients who are under 18 years. This procedure will only be performed after a face-to-face consultation with one of our injectors, during which a full assessment will be carried out and a full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.
